Hologic improves business visibility with Oracle Business Intelligence

30th June 2011

Hologic, a manufacturer of medical solutions for women, has standardized on Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) and Oracle Business Intelligence Applications to gain better visibility and intelligence across its business.  With Oracle Business Intelligence, Hologic has been able to consolidate disparate business intelligence (BI) systems under a common infrastructure and produce custom dashboards and reports quickly to supply critical intelligence to stakeholders across applications and business functions.

Following a number of acquisitions, Hologic was left with multiple legacy BI systems that prevented it from achieving a single, accurate view of its business.  As the company grew, it became essential to standardize on one platform and method of reporting to gain end-to-end intelligence across sales, manufacturing, finance and other critical business functions.  Hologic selected Oracle due to the strength of its BI offerings, ability to integrate seamlessly with existing applications including the Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle’s Siebel CRM, and Oracle Hyperion Performance Management as well as its long-standing relationship with the company.

Built on a unified infrastructure, Oracle Business Intelligence has enabled Hologic to pull information across data sources and applications. Initially, Hologic rolled out its Oracle BI system across its sales operations, and has since implemented it across several additional areas of the business.  Oracle Sales Analytics help Hologic to improve the effectiveness of its sales team by providing real-time, actionable insight into every sales opportunity at the point of customer contact. Oracle Sales Analytics is pre-integrated with Oracle’s Siebel CRM.

Most recently, Hologic deployed Oracle Human Resources Analytics to provide human resources professionals and front-line managers with intelligence that enables them to better analyze workforce staffing and productivity levels in addition to helping to attract and retain top people.

The company is also using its Oracle BI system to gain better insight into its service business, a significant revenue generator for the company, and using that intelligence to determine how they can improve service offerings, contract profitability, and pricing to maximize business results.  In all, the company has reduced manual reporting efforts significantly, and now provides key stakeholders with critical information at the point and time of need by capitalizing on the packaged analytics and customizable dashboards of Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition.

Moving forward, Hologic plans to provide more “self-service” BI access to users to further improve business visibility and lessen dependence on IT resources.
