Microsoft is changing the licensing model for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013, with Business Ready Licensing (BRL) being replaced by Perpetual Licensing (PL) – a move that promises to simplify licensing and may even reduce costs for some customers. ‘We want it to be so simple you can figure out pricing on the back of a napkin,’ Carl Radecke, worldwide pricing lead for Microsoft recently told attendees at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC).
Microsoft has posted a draft of the new perpetual license model here, though you will need a CustomerSource login to read it. Prising is not yet available, but at WPC Microsoft announced that the starter version of the perpetual license will be $5,000, as opposed to $7,000 for the equivalent BRL Business Essentials. Microsoft expects the changes to reduce prices for many customers, especially those with less than 100 users – though prices could increase for larger implementations.
