In a move designed to increase collaboration and access to information for a wide range of consolidation, budgeting and reporting applications, Tagetik, a rapidly expanding CPM provider has announced it is to enhance its integration with Microsoft Sharepoint Server 2007 and Microsoft Business Intelligence Platform.
Tagetik COO Manuel Vellutini, told FSN, “Collaboration is becoming more and more important in performance management applications and using standard Microsoft technology alongside Tagetik’s application expertise allows large companies to take advantage of this capability at without major investment.”
“Five to ten years ago I would be surprised if more than two or three people were involved in a group consolidation process. Now it is not unusual to have fifty to a hundred users engaged in the same environment. Using this technology, we can expand the benefits of collaboration and information sharing to even more applications. For example, using Sharepoint, finance users can share information about deadlines, accounting policy, problem areas, budget assumptions or other documentation,” he added.
Commenting on Microsoft’s surprise exit a few months ago from the performance management space Vellutini said, “It just goes to show that the expertise in technology is quite different from domain knowledge in applications. A technologically driven approach on its own does not work. What we are doing here is combining the best of both worlds, with Tagetik providing the applications that the CFO and office of finance needs and Microsoft providing the enabling platform.”
