Infor Delivers ERP on IBM PureSystems

26th April 2012

Infor, has this week announced the availability of Infor ERP on IBM PureSystems.   Infor says that Infor ERP on PureSystems provides a simplified, easy-to-manage, high-performance IT environment for core business applications. Infor is one of the largest providers of applications for IBM platforms, with approximately 19,000 customers and three decades of experience developing, implementing and supporting ERP on IBM.

“As complexity increases for our customers, they look for solutions that help them move towards standardization and simplification—not just at the application level, but at the infrastructure level as well,” said Charles Phillips, CEO of Infor. “We believe that ultimately delivering a business process enabled by IT systems should be as easy as going to a catalogue, selecting the service and getting it provisioned; and with PureSystems, IBM, has delivered an important step towards this goal.”

The combination of PureSystems and Infor’s industry-specific applications, results in deeply integrated hardware and software that is tuned in a ready-to-go workload-optimized system with a broad and open ecosystem of additional solutions. Customers typically rely on a portfolio of applications in addition to ERP to support the needs of their business and enhance operations, including CRM, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Supply Chain Management (SCM), and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM). PureSystems enables customers to procure and deploy these systems in a matter of minutes, a process that previously took hours if not days.

Infor plans to extend the Infor10 ION Support Adapter to PureSystems, through the IBM PureFlex infrastructure, enabling greater knowledge-based support to solve critical business issues. Through the ION Support Adapter, data is collected not only on the application, but also on hardware, connectivity, middleware, and other IT components and transmitted back to Infor. If a support call comes in to Infor Xtreme Support, the expert technicians are able to use this data to address issues more quickly without having to first research the customer’s IT systems in addition to the application.

In addition, PureSystems can dynamically allocate system resources to different applications as required based on a customer’s service level agreement, delivering greater speed through the optimization of application performance. For example, at the close of the quarter, an Infor ERP application may require more system resources to enable faster closing of the books. PureSystems can dynamically pull system resources from underutilized applications and allocate them to the ERP to speed the process of closing the books.

Immediately available for PureSystems are Infor10 ERP iEnterprise (LX), Infor10 ERP Discrete iEnterprise (XA), and Lawson M3 ERP Enterprise. Infor10 ERP Enterprise (LN), Infor10 ERP iBusiness (System21), Infor10 HCM iEnterprise (Infinium), Infor10 Financials iEnterprise (Infinium) are expected to be available on PureSystems during the next quarter, with additional applications expected to follow. The diagnostic advancements from ION support Adapter are currently planned for PureSystems during the second half of 2012.
