CedarOpenAccounts announces integrated portal for HR and financial processes
23rd October 2006 CedarOpenAccounts (COA), has announced a new software product, eOpenPeople a web-based employee self-service system to integrate both human resources (HR) and financial processes allowing employees and line managers to access HR and finance systems via one portal.
Employees are expected to benefit from eOpenPeople because it provides one access point for all of their personal and job related needs. For example, they can book time off and raise an invoice or purchase order from one screen, rather than having to switch systems or fill in forms manually. Equally line managers can action authorisation for sickness requests immediately and sign off expense claims quicker rather than having to fill in numerous paper forms and creating lengthy email chains.
For the organisation as a whole, says COA, eOpenPeople means that processes can be streamlined and best practice can be achieved through standardising request forms on the system, so employees have to adhere to set HR procedures. In turn, the administrative burden is reduced because information is provided directly onto the system by the employee and doesn't have to re-keyed into the system from a manual form.
The eOpenPeople solution incorporates COA's eBis Exchange, a web-based business process engine that provides a framework for developing forms and processes for a company to support efficiency across the organisation. Roles are set up in the workflow engine which will determine the functions available to each user based on dedicated login and password, from ‘lite' general employee users to HR team administrators.
Jan Paxton, eOpenPeople product manager at COA comments, “Despite even the best intentions of employees it's easy to become bogged in the workplace if basic administrative processes are poorly defined and controlled. In service organisations where profitability or efficiency is closely linked to effective utilisation of people's time, eOpenPeople helps to streamline general HR and financial processes making them much quicker to complete. By reviewing internal processes and consolidating HR and finance information onto one system, service organisations can expect a ROI in both cost and efficiency savings, and increasingly motivate employees who spend more time doing what they are employed to do. The web-based system is easy to use and can also help an organisation to move closer to achieving a paperless office.”
