2nd July 2007 SAP says that Harrods, the famous London luxury retailer, has completed the final stage of a migration to SAP ERP 2005. Harrods selected SAP to increase efficiency of its processes as well as to cut spending costs and provide a better level of service to its customers.
Consolidation of its back office systems raised awareness of slow and cumbersome processes within Harrods' IT department, leading to the organisations decision to upgrade its software. Harrods had a lack of visibility across existing systems, and understood the need for visibility in order to better service its customers. Harrods had several legacy systems in place, including retail offerings from SAP, which were migrated to the consolidated platform.
Benefits are already being realised at Harrods because of its use of SAP. “Harrods has seen significant business growth over the last four years. The implementation of SAP 4.6C during 2002 has largely contributed to many of the operational efficiencies that make the business more efficient and therefore more profitable overall. Previously many departments were operating in their own silos with lack of consistent business reporting and poor data quality. Now, with SAP, we capture sales information and analyse profitability at products level for all the articles that we buy," said David Llamas director of IT at Harrods.
“We are delighted that Harrods has chosen SAP to run its business on. This is another customer win that supports our commitment to the retail industry,” said Richard Mills, Retail Principal, SAP UK . “We will work closely with Harrods now to ensure their customers receive a better level of service, and in the future will work together on providing customers with easy access to in-store and online promotions.”
