As part of a strategic initiative to align its financial and operational systems to simplify reporting and increase transparency, Home Box Office, Inc. (HBO), the premium television programming subsidiary of Time Warner, has successfully implemented the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.
Previously using a mix of disparate and home-grown legacy solutions, the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 extends across the organisation, scaling to support 1,000 casual users and a wide variety of functional groups in finance, operations, and IT.
HBO is leveraging the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 project accounting capability, which enables the organisation to capture and see information at various levels and categories that it was previously unable to view easily. This provides insight into production and project information, trends and total cost and helps finance and operations budget for future projects.
Transaction management capabilities in the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 allow HBO to more efficiently manage accounts payable and receivable, payments to vendors and suppliers, requests for goods and services and other general ledger details.Transaction management capabilities in Release 12 allow HBO to more efficiently manage accounts payable and receivable, payments to vendors and suppliers, requests for goods and services and other general ledger details.
HBO is taking advantage of the change in systems to implement more self-service capabilities, shifting how employees manage invoices and enter information online to streamline workflow and achieve greater efficiencies across the organization.
HBO is currently using the following modules of the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12: Oracle General Ledger, Oracle Subledger Accounting, Oracle Payables, Oracle Receivables, Oracle Assets, Oracle iProcurement, Oracle Discoverer, Oracle Project Costing and Billing, Oracle Inventory and Oracle Order Management. After an initial planning and pre-discovery phase, the project was completed on time and on budget.
“The migration from analog to digital leaves media companies facing big challenges in how they manage, protect and distribute programming, while providing a continuously improved viewing experience for our customers” said Greg Fittinghoff, Senior Vice President of Application Development and Support, HBO. “As HBO takes on these challenges, we have to maintain overall operational efficiency throughout our increasingly diverse business. The implementation of Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 has allowed us to greatly streamline our financial and operational information into one central location, view and leverage that information in new ways, and run deeper, more detailed and more transparent reports that provide critical insight into our changing business.”
“We had two basic requirements - the need for an integrated, scalable solution and a system that would be able to carry us forward into the future, said Marie Mahony, Vice President of Finance Operations and Reporting, HBO. “The Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 not only helps us meet our goals, but serves as a platform to support financial and operational growth.”
