SAP to release ‘next-generation' Supply Chain Management (SCM) Solution
3rd March 2008 SAP has announced the upcoming release of a new version of its supply chain management solution. Developed in close collaboration with existing SAP customers to address challenges such as supply chain responsiveness and integration with partner ecosystems, the latest release of the SAP Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM) application will include enhanced functionality for supply network collaboration (SNC), extended warehouse management (EWM) and enhanced planning.
One focus of the new software is c loser collaboration with business partners to improve visibility. SAP promises e nhanced capabilities for outsourced manufacturing in SNC to improve supply network inventory and work order collaboration. Further functionality for supplier collaboration enables suppliers to create Web-based invoices, leading to quicker response times for improved product turnaround says SAP.
There is also new labour management functionality to maximize the productivity of the warehouse workforce with out-of-the-box reporting, designed for direct and indirect labor.
Finally SAP has added e nhancements to advanced planning and optimization, mainly in supply network planning as well as production planning and detailed scheduling to help businesses create new planning scenarios that optimise capacity utilisation and help ensure timely delivery. New features such as capacity reservations help shorten delivery times to strategic customers says SAP.
SAP has more than 14,500 SAP SCM customers in all market segments. The new release of SAP SCM will be generally available to customers in the middle of 2008.
