Air France Cargo-KLM Cargo has used Informatica PowerCenter data integration platform to successfully migrate the customer, contract and pricing data of Air France Cargo- KLM Cargo into a new shared application environment. Completed on schedule and within budget, the large-scale migration project represents both a significant step in integrating the processes and systems of the two organisations following their 2004 merger and in enabling the combined enterprise to present a single face to customers.
As part of migrating freight division data into its new central application, Air France Cargo-KLM Cargo used Informatica Data Explorer software in conjunction with PowerCenter to gain insight into the content, quality and structure of the data prior to integrating it into the new system. Informatica Data Explorer enabled Air France Cargo-KLM Cargo to profile the data in search of quality issues, gaps, inconsistencies and incompatibilities, thus accelerating and streamlining the migration project and ensuring the availability of high-quality information. From start to finish, the entire migration project was completed within five months.
Marco Koole, project leader at KLM Cargo. “Informatica met all our requirements for the migration project including data quality, which is essential for enabling orders to be placed, authorised and invoiced correctly. With Informatica, data quality is now an integrated and continuous component of the data integration cycle.”
Among the uses of the new common application environment is the provisioning of Air France Cargo-KLM Cargo's “Unique Voice Portal.” This web-based system enables employees of the two organisations to see on a single screen the cargo capacity of a given flight and what price arrangements have been made with customers, so that they can be served more quickly and efficiently. The Informatica solution ensures the quality and completeness of this and other information available through the portal.
