Version One, the document management company wins environmental award
5th December 2005
Document management and imaging company, Version One, has won a Green Apple environmental award for the third year in succession. This international award, which was presented by the Green Organisation at the Houses of Parliament, acknowledges the crucial contribution Version One's paperless office software is making to environmental best practice.

Version One's software enables millions of business documents to be electronically stored, retrieved and managed. As all documents are stored 'virtually' and can be automatically faxed and emailed from the computer, hard-copy printouts are unnecessary, saving time and money and dramatically cutting-down on paper waste and global carbon emissions.

Organisations that use paper-based processes for managing their documents are wasting millions of tonnes of paper every year. CO 2 is also emitted during the manufacture, transportation, storage and disposal of paper documents, laser printers and toner cartridges, contributing to the greenhouse effect.

Using information from the Carbon Trust, Version One estimates that as a direct result of companies implementing its paperless office solutions, 1,000 fewer tonnes of CO 2 emissions are entering the atmosphere every year.

Tony Bray, Version One's director comments, "It's staggering how much CO 2 UK businesses are emitting each year as a result of inefficient and wasteful paper processes. By ignoring the damaging effects these processes are having on the planet, companies are failing in their environmental responsibilities. Those organisations that implement Version One's document management software are demonstrating their commitment to sustainable development whilst enjoying significant savings of time and money."

Thousands of private and public sector organisations have already implemented Version One's paperless office software, and as more organisations commit to sustainable development policies and pursue increased business efficiency, the number of implementations will increase dramatically.
