BDO Stoy Hayward orders Microsoft Dynamics NAV and practice management software from Star Computers

22nd January 2007

BDO Stoy Hayward in Belfast , an independent office within the BDO network, has placed an order with Star Computers Limited for its SQL based Practice Management software and Microsoft Dynamics NAV software.

The Practice Management software will be an upgrade from the solution installed at the firm in 2002.  "Since that time the firm has doubled in size. We plan to keep growing at an aggressive rate and we need a system that will keep pace," says Financial Controller, Paul Brown.  "Star has served us very well over the past four years and although we considered other options, we always felt most comfortable with upgrading Star to SQL."

The firm is replacing Sage Line 50 with Dynamics NAV, the mid-market accounting and business system, which will be linked to the Star software.  "There was nowhere further we could go with Line 50 so a new solution had to be found.  Star's ability to provide a single source of supply for all of our accounting software requirements was clearly very helpful."

Before committing itself, BDO went through a careful due diligence process, including visiting two Star clients on mainland Europe .  "Being able to go into the offices of Big 4 accountancy firms who are using Star for hundreds of staff was very useful," says Paul Brown. "Not only were they able to confirm that the software will do exactly what we want, they also gave some very good advice about how we should go about the implementation," he adds.

Besides upgrading the core Practice Management software to SQL, the firm is also introducing Star's web based 'Practice Dashboard' software.
