Essex Fire Authority selects CODA's Dream for managed finance
10th December 2007 CODA Group, the finance software specialist, today announced that the Essex Fire Authority has purchased its Dream finance software (a unified ledger system) which will be hosted for them by Cambridgeshire & Peter borough Fire Authority.
The partnership follows increasing collaboration between fire authorities as the service strives for increased efficiency. Cambridgeshire will help Essex to implement and manage the Dream system and will provide first line support. CODA will provide its usual helpdesk services and database support and disaster recovery to help Cambridgeshire cope with the additional demand on resources and infrastructure.
“We are very happy to be able to work closely with Cambridgeshire & Peter borough Fire Authority on this project,” said Steve Truman, project manager, Essex Fire Authority. “They already have experience with CODA's Dream software and heartily recommend it, and we have the peace of mind that comes with managed software. It makes sense for fire authorities to share more systems and infrastructure as we have many of the same requirements. Finance is the perfect example and Dream is a system that can easily cope with our requirements and provide the functionality we are looking for. It is easy to implement and can be accessed online by users once installed on an external server at Cambridgeshire's head office.”
Essex Fire Authority previously used a finance system that was developed in-house coupled with software that was hosted by Essex County Council. This is the first time the fire authority has had a single finance system and will benefit from up-to-the-minute technology, more accurate and reliable financial information and reliable support services.
“We make lots of stock purchases in particular and therefore it is important that we can access and monitor purchase ledger activity closely,” continued Mr. Truman. “I believe that the Fire & Rescue sector can make further efficiencies through collaboration and sharing of infrastructure, and hope that we will prove to be an example that others can follow.”
