Microsoft extends advance on mid-market with industry solutions
5th Decmber 2005
Microsoft Corp has announced the general availability of five industry-specific solutions developed in close alliance with selected independent software vendors (ISVs) participating in the Microsoft Industry Builder initiative. Microsoft's Industry Builder initiative offers customers solutions that are packaged with Microsoft support offerings and code review. The announcement comes hard on the heals of the roles based processing for Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0 ( Great Plains ) reported in FSN two weeks ago.

The solutions, scheduled to be available this week, are designed for businesses that specialise in process manufacturing, industrial equipment manufacturing, field service management, distribution, professional services and retail and are available in Australia , Belgium , Canada , Denmark , France , Germany , Iceland , the Netherlands , Sweden , the UK and the US .

Craig McCollum, VP of sales strategy for Microsoft Business Solutions, said: "As we indicated earlier this year, we're starting out with a focus on very specific industries and geographies, but the Industry Builder initiative is global in concept. The availability of solutions announced today is only the first of many Industry Builder initiative solutions that will be introduced to the market. Future releases will expand the initiative's scope in terms of both industries and geographies served."

The first solutions, announced last week for the Axapta strand of the Dynamics business include, Supply Chain Execution, Process Industries, Professional Services, Industrial Equipment Manufacturing and Field Service.
