Oracle unveils ‘Oracle On Demand’ for midsize companies

29th March 2011

Oracle has launched Oracle On Demand Professional Edition, so that midsize organisations can access Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise, Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition, Oracle’s JD Edwards Enterprise One and Oracle Hyperion enterprise performance management solutions at significantly lower costs than Oracle On Demand Enterprise Edition.

Oracle says that the latest release provides all the benefits of Oracle On Demand, including lower capital expenses,  reduced IT complexity, and state-of-the-art datacenter and disaster-recovery services. At the same time the solution is highly scalable, so companies can easily extend or add services as business conditions evolve.

The company has also taken the opportunity to introduce an innovative pricing approach that "ensures midsize companies get the business features they need—without paying for what they don't need," said Mike Mahoney, senior director, Oracle.

The base configuration—available for as few as 100 concurrent users—consists of customer-specified modules for financials, manufacturing, human capital management, and customer resource management. Organisations can then add additional blocks of users as needed, and also purchase additional module packs as business requirements grow.
