Saga chooses Dream and Cognos to improve group reporting

23rd October 2005

Saga Group Limited has signed a contract for a Dream financial management and accounting system and Cognos Enterprise Planning software from CODA Group, the finance software specialist. The new system will give Saga the ability to produce detailed forecasts and cashflow analysis as well as consolidating Group management accounts

Saga Group focuses exclusively on the provision of quality services for people of 50 and over including cruises on Saga's own ships, an award winning magazine, insurance and financial products, and radio stations.

CODA will help Saga redesign its chart of accounts to streamline many of its existing processes across the group. Dream includes customisable user input options so manual data input is easy, swift and accurate and will minimise the finance department's overall workload. It also allows Saga to make the most of its existing IT investment by easily interfacing with existing systems sitting on newly deployed servers running Windows 2003 and SQL 2000.

Neil Stark, Finance Manager at Saga, said: "Saga has expanded rapidly over the last few years. The new system will make it much easier for us to access specific business information from anywhere in the company. During the evaluation, CODA worked very closely with us to show how the software could address our specific business needs."

Dream will work alongside Cognos Enterprise Planning (CEP) to help Saga improve the accuracy and time taken to produce reports and enable direct reporting out of the core finance application. It will also give Saga the ability to produce detailed forecasts and cashflow analysis as well as consolidating Group management accounts. CODA and Cognos work in partnership to provide business intelligence and reporting tools to companies with sophisticated financial management requirements.

"Dream's interface capabilities mean we will have tight integration of key data from other business critical systems," added Stark. "This real time financial analysis and reporting will give us the systems and processes to support future business growth."
