SICK a producer of sensors and sensor solutions for industrial applications has specified PrecisionPoint Business Intelligence (BI) software for ‘out of the box’ management and production reporting. The decision to implement PrecisionPoint was based on the software’s ability to allow perfect reconciliation of the business warehouse to the underlying ERP (Microsoft Dynamics) providing complete confidence in the integrity of the reporting system.
PrecisionPoint is the only BI software to be certified for both Microsoft Dynamics NAV and AX. Available as an online managed service, customers benefit from rapid speed of deployment and are able to produce meaningful cross-functional reports and analysis across the entire organization in a matter of days.
Unlike traditional BI systems, which use extract, transform and load programs to select discrete segments of an ERP system to load into many multidimensional cubes, PrecisionPoint views the ERP as a whole and considers the journey of the transaction through the various ledgers, accessing and combining key information into a usable form. By leveraging the ERP database as if the BI layer is an extension of the accounting system, the data benefits from the tight validation routines that the ERP system imposes on data entry and data quality can be assured. It is this guarantee of accuracy that appealed most to SICK UK who are part of a European sub-group of twelve members that all use Microsoft Dynamics.
Dave Benbow, Senior Manager, SICK UK commented: “We have chosen PrecisionPoint because we need accuracy of data across our entire reporting and analysis environment. There are so many ways of getting figures out of Dynamics in a segmented way but we always end up with discrepancies and hours of reconciliation when trying to match back to our true figures. With PrecisionPoint you always start from the headline figure which measures your business – your profit and loss – and then you can drill down to any level of detail. I haven’t found another piece of software that can do that.”
SICK UK has chosen to acquire the software by signing a Subscription Licensing Option with PrecisionPoint, under which PrecisionPoint will deliver a full managed on premise service for a monthly fee.
