e-conomic launches Android accounting app

16th June 2011

Small and medium businesses can now transfer their entire accounts to any smartphone and from there create and send invoices, book entries and access key figures. With the e-conomic Android app comes a scanning module that allows users to scan and send documents directly to their accounting system via a single click with their mobile phone camera. e-conomic, a cloud based vendor, says 10,000 customers are already using e-conomic's iPhone app launched six months ago.

“Our iPhone app has been a great success, and there has been a huge demand from our customers with Android phones – which is about half of our customers – to create an Android app as well. And now companies using Android phones can also create customers, create and send invoices, book entries and get a complete overview of their key figures while they're on the move. Everything you do on your mobile phone is recorded directly in the e-conomic system, which is a central feature to the app that will allow you to save a lot of time” e-conomic CEO Torben Frigaard Rasmussen told FSN.

“Additionally, we have a special new feature for our Android customers. They can access an intelligent scanning module that allows them to take pictures of documents with their mobile phones and send them directly to the e-conomic accounting system. In principle, they can use their mobile phones to scan all documents and save them in the system, which will ease their administrative load considerably. We have also added more graphics for the Android app, including pie charts showing turnover per customer, which can be used strategically when negotiating new pricing agreements,” he added.

The new e-conomic Android app is also good news to the mobile phone market. Mobile telephony company 3 is targeting the business segment through selected smartphone apps that add real value for business owners and small businesses.

“Sales of mobile phones have just surpassed sales of computers, and to business people especially mobile phones will become even more important as an all-round tool, both when they are with customers and when they are at home. Before, we sold subscriptions exclusively based on pricing, but now it's clearly the supply of value-adding services that determines the market situation. That's why we have strengthened our focus on business intelligent apps like e-conomic which provide actual time savings and improved access to key decision-making data when you're on the move,” says Jack Petersen, 3 Innovation Manager.

“More or less everyone uses smartphones, and Android phones and iPhones have about equal market shares. Historically, Android phones haven't had the same processor power and memory storage as iPhones, and when you transfer your entire accounts to a mobile phone, you need a fast and stable model. With the new mobile phones from HTC, Samsung and others, the system requirements are now no longer an issue, and that's why we feel this is the right time to launch the accounting app,” added Rasmussen.
