City of London Academy, the publicly funded independent school specialising in business and enterprise for students aged 11 – 18, has replaced its existing finance system with Access Dimensions & FocalPoint in preparation for the future and to automate manual processes across the organisation.
Ari Kotsis, management accountant at City of London Academy, said, “The integration between Access Dimensions & FocalPoint and Microsoft Office really impressed us, along with the ability to be paperless through Access Document Manager. We wanted to be able to import journals into the finance system, but also use Excel for management reporting. It’s going to give our reporting capabilities a huge boost.” This had previously been a manual process; with the new Access solution it will be automated, offering a huge time saving.
Access’ professional services solution FocalPoint will change the way that City of London Academy handles its purchase orders and requests. “FocalPoint’s web portal will allow us to roll out purchase requests across the whole school, simplifying the process and making it more traceable.
“As well as more people having access to purchase requests and ordering we’re also able to track our outstanding orders in a more effective way. The purchasing is qualitative as well as quantitative, so if we only receive a part order we can adjust the amount received as well as the value – with our old system this wasn’t possible,” concluded Ari.
