Softworld in Accounting at Olympia gave us the first snapshot of the mid-market as we enter what will hopefully be a period of sustained recovery. There was certainly a renewed air of confidence accompanied by many new product announcements and developments to tempt buyers. Cloud computing loomed large with many new suppliers entering the fray for this hotly contested space as well as established vendors giving end users the choice between hosted and on-premise solutions. A new realism has set in with nobody expecting massive systems replacements – the focus for now seems to be on maximising value from existing systems and areas in which it is easier to demonstrate a rapid payback, such as document management, consultancy, CRM, and purchase to pay. Ambitious companies such as Access, Sage, CODA and Mamut have released new products and services hoping to take advantage (and market share) whilst competitors rest on their laurels. At FSN we have captured the very best of what is happening in a series of video reports and interviews which will be released over the next few days. In the meantime you can get a flavour of developments from our first video report by clicking here.
