Jon Kondo, CEO of hostanlytics was in London this week looking at the next phase of expansion for his cloud-based performance management suite. hostanalytics is one of three vendors (the others being anaplan and adaptive planning) making a splash in this market and seeking to persuade businesses to move away from the inconvenience of on-premises solutions. Kondo’s approach is notably different form a large number of cloud vendors who assume that customers will simply register for a trial of the software and then sign up. He knows that in the enterprise performance management space, dealing with listed companies, that it’s going to take more than a whizzy web site to convince typically conservative finance types to make the change – which is why hostanalytics expects face to face meetings in the sales cycle. It is also an organisation that understands that the cloud is simply a means to an end rather than an end in itself, i.e. cloud computing is not the basis for competition in this market. Expect to see interesting developments from this company next year.
